
2010 USRMC Sporting Regulations
The procedures and rules within this document are designed for National Level events. It is the series official’s option to use the procedures as outlined. Series officials are free to modify procedures, if necessary, to fit within the structure and time constraints of the local event.
Some minor changes have been made in the presentation and wording of this document. It is the responsibility of each participant to read and understand all components contained in the following sections. Every attempt possible has been made to make statements and procedures clear and easy to understand but if questions do remain, you must ask for clarification. A stated reason for non compliance of not understanding the rules and procedures listed in the following pages will not be accepted for non-conformance.
1. Registration
Items you will receive at registration;
Registration packet, including tire, fuel and oil vouchers.
Event information and schedules. Each day will have a set schedule. Your packet will include the schedule for practice and qualifying. Schedules for the heats, LCQs, Pre-Finals and Finals may not be available until the day of each of these sessions. If this is the case they will be available at the gate when you arrive or at the registration area each day.
Additional items each competitor is to receive as part of the event package.
2. Scrutineering Process Defined
This is not an official rules document, rather an explanation for those new to the process.
There are several items to attend to before you begin any Technical Inspection process. Be INFORMED, most organizers go to great lengths to post important information on web sites, hand out printed material in entry packages, posting supplemental rules updates. This is to convey information to you! If you know the rules, you can avoid problems later during the event.
Attitude – Is most important. Inspectors/Scrutineers are doing a difficult important job. I promise you, we do not like to ruin any part of your day, from asking you to fix something in pre-Tech to a DQ during a competitive element!
If you disagree with a Tech official, please keep it professional, we are not all perfect and if we are in error it will be corrected. If you think a rule is unfair or unjust, work to get it changed. Rotax follows CIK rules if not addressed in RMC Regulations or Supplemental. Be INFORMED!
2.1 Pre Tech- Bring your Kart, required safety equipment, USA origin engine identity card (Passport) for each engine being declared. Engine serial numbers, seal numbers will be recorded and associated with your entry. I will address declaration requirements later. Before presenting you Kart at Pre-Tech, check it out to verify you have proper auxiliary brake cable (minimum1.8 mm diameter) brakes in good working order,30 mm diameter (minimum) flat washers between all seat mounting points & seat, weights secured with drilled and safety wired bolts, throttle opens and returns properly. Be advised, although you now have passed pre-tech, this has no bearing on any further inspection during the event. Any & all items are subject to inspection throughout the entire event. You are now ready to participate in on track sessions in your designated group. If you see an inspector walking around the grids or scale area this will a good thing. We are proactive in helping competitors comply with rules. We would much rather ask you to change or correct items at this point rather in official inspections later.
Depending upon event format, inspection will be conducted after every on track element, qualifying, pre-final and finals. Prepare for this process; have proper tools WITH YOU when you are asked to present kart for technical inspections. After qualifying or pre-final you may be asked to remove and or disassemble carburetors, clutch or spark plug. In most situations more invasive inspection will occur after finals at major events. At your local RMC events the integrity of the sealed engine program will be respected, however, local inspector may open seals as they deem necessary. In this instance, if your sealing agent is not present, arrangements should be made with a local sealing agent to re-seal your engine at the track, you also may choose to return engine to your sealing agent for re-sealing.
To make your experience more fun, remember, do not attempt to go past scales to see your driver before he/she weighs, do not pass anything including tire pressure gage, water or tools to your driver in controlled areas. Only one person in tech inspection areas, inspector may ask driver to leave area. It is great to have Mom, little bother, uncles or grandparents at the track, but we must keep tech area secure. Your Kart is inspected as condition it exited track. If air box is dislodged, exhaust system dislodged etc. these will be cause for penalty.
2.2 Equipment Declarations – This is a simple process competitors get confused about. I will make this as simple as I possibility can.
You are allowed TWO (2) Engines & ONE (1) Chassis per event. Times will be posted for this process, at most events it is part of the Pre-Tech Inspection procedures.
2.2.1 Chassis – You will present on chassis for declaration for each event. A numbered seal will be attached to chassis and recorded to your name & Kart entry number. This is the only chassis you may use in any official element of the event, including official practice days.
2.2.2 Engines – Engine Identity Cards (Passports) contain engine serial number, current engine seal numbers Top/ Bottom. Engines must be properly sealed and presented with Identity Cards also referred to as engine passports.
PASSPORTS FOUND TO HAVE BEEN STAMPED IN ADVANCE WITH NO INFORMATION (BLANK) WILL BE IMPOUNDED AND NATIONAL TECHNICAL DIRECTOR NOTIFIED. ENGINE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN EVENT.
Engines presented without up to date, correct information included with Passports, will not be accepted for any on track official element. Passport associated to US Origin Engines must have dealer stamp at every entry on passport, signed and dated by service center official representative! Engine serial numbers, seal numbers will be recorded and associated to your name & assigned Kart number, and may not be used in any other context during the remainder of the event.
Option 1 Declare two (2) engines at initial time of declarations. If you have two engines declared, no repair will be allowed if one is damaged. Use of these engines is free!
Option 2 Declare one(1) engine at initial time of declarations. If you have only one engine declared, you may under the supervision, and prior permission of Technical Director, repair only damaged parts.
Option 3 Declare as second engine at any time during the event.*
Option 4 Shared engines. If you and another competitor have three engines between you, it is possible to share a third engine as a spare. Under this condition you must
a) declare in advance who the engine will /may be shared with. Both parties must make this declaration at time of recording.
b) Notify Technical Director before engine is shared and which engine is being replaced. From this point forward neither the shared engine, or the engine being replaced may be used by another competitor.
*IMPORTANT – During any official element, including official practice days, only declared equipment may be used.
3. Parc Ferme Procedures
3.1 Rules for Parc Ferme Check In
The following is a set of rules to help introduce you to the ins and outs of Parc Ferme, though it may contain some rules within, this is merely a summary of such rules an will not be referred to as part of the US Rotax Max Challenge rule book.
Parc Ferme, loosely translated to English, means closed area, which is exactly what it is. Parc Ferme is a servicing and storage area for your official event fuel and tires, with limited access only to approved or invited competitors. Parc Ferme, also referred to as a servicing compound, servicing parks, impound area, or assembly/disassembly area, is composed of a fenced in area, a building, or combination of both which will store and protect the integrity of the competitor’s fuel and tires. Once introduced to Parc Ferme, a competitor’s fuel and tires may not leave the designated area. Should a competitor’s fuel or tires leave the area they would not be able to reintroduce said equipment. It will save you money and a fair amount of aggravation if you commit this to memory and ask yourself each time you head toward the exit of Parc Ferme “Did I return everything I need to Parc Ferme”?
Parc Ferme preparation starts at home. To make you life simpler, make sure you have a spare fuel jug and tank for your kart. The fuel and tank will be stored within Parc Ferme for the duration of the weekend. You will need a separate practice fuel jug and tank.
LABEL EVERYTING!!!!! This cannot be stressed enough. Label everything you introduce to Parc Ferme. Your fuel jugs, fuel tank, wheels, mixing containers and rain tires. Label your gear permanently and as large as possible. the officials and Parc Ferme attendants are there to house and secure your race equipment, but it is ultimately the competitor’s responsibility to make sure his/her equipment is labeled properly. Never leave anything unattended in Parc Ferme. Though your day may be hectic and chaotic and you think you have more important things to be doing, always wait until you watch the Parc Ferme attendant place your equipment back in its proper place. Each competitor has a specific storage space that will not change during the course of the weekend. When you first check in your equipment, watch where the attendants place your tires and fuel. It is the attendant’s job to store your equipment, but it is your responsibility to make sure that it is labeled and accessible for each segment of the race weekend. Again,LABEL EVERYTHING!!!!
A day will be designated as the equipment introduction day. This day is usually the day of practice, before qualifying starts. The times for this process will be officially posted on the schedule for the race weekend. Don not fret, checking in is simple. Bring an empty fuel jug, tickets for tires, oil and fuel, and ALL of the rain tires you wish to use for the entire race event, to the officials at the Parc Ferme check-in entrance. You also must have your credentials for the corresponding driver you wish to check-in. At all times, no access will be granted to anyone who does not have proper identification and equipment will only be issued through a visual inspection of credentials by attendants. With credentials, tickets, empty inspected fuel jug and rain tires for the weekend in hand, you will head to Parc Ferme to procure your oil, fuel, and slick tires. The attendants will log in your fuel, oil, and tires and store it. As per the Rotax Kart Challenge rule book, your rain tires must be in wrappers or have the nubs to indicate they are new. Wrapped rain tires will then be logged in with the attendants and stored. You have no successfully fulfilled all of your Parc Ferme requirements. Mounting of tires and mixing of fuel is performed at you’re discretion and is not part of the scheduled time constraints of Parc Ferme. Parc Ferme is open from scheduled opening time to the designated deadline and the attendants and officials will help log in any competitor in nay class during this window. It would be to your advantage to take care of it early in the day so that it is done and you are not standing in line with the rest of the competitors that put it off until the last minute.
This is just a summary of what is required for your Parc Ferme check-in and hopefully answers all of your questions about how the check-in process works. If you have nay further questions or concerns, officials at the track will gladly help.
3.2 Parc Ferme Rules for Race Events
Now that you have labeled, checked-in and stored your equipment it is time to retrieve your gear and for racing. The following rules allow you to properly enter and exit Parc Ferme during the race event. Again a simple disclaimer, this is a summarize guideline. It is the competitor’s responsibility to acquire any additional documents made available to Rotax participants. These additional documents may contain supplements to the rules and clarifications.
Kart Presentation to Parc Ferme Entrance
- Both the driver and mechanic must have proper credentials corresponding with the kart number being introduced.
- Fuel Lines must be drained. If reporting with the tank on the kart the tank must be completely empty.
- Parc Ferme Officials will inspect driver/mechanic credentials, kart, and toll boxes prior to admittance to assembly area. No fluids or loose weights are permitted within the confines of Parc Ferme, with the exception of beverages which we make you prove by drinking in out witness. Any allowed beverages MUST be consumed or disposed of prior to release from Parc Ferme to pre-grid.
After inspection, you will be directed to an area to place your kart in order to assemble for racing. With credentials in hand for visual inspection by attendants, you will head for the issuing table. The attendant will inspect your credentials and retrieve the equipment you request. Once you have assembled and fueled your kart, return your fuel jug to the issuing table for storage. Next, wait until an official release you to the pre-grid. During this time you should make sure that you have everything you will need to compete in the on track race segment. Once released from the assembly area of the Parc Ferme to the pre-grid, there is no way to exit the area and return. If a driver or mechanic leaves the pre-grid area, he/she will not be allowed to return. No additional parts or tools may be introduced to the pre-grid area, so before you leave the assembly area of Parc Ferme, make sure you have everything you need.
If a driver is found to not have his/her transponder on the kart once leaving the assembly area, moving to the grid, they will be allowed to have some one bring the transponder to the entrance to Parc Ferme and an official will relay the transponder to the driver. There will be a 5 second penalty assessed to the driver on the finish of the heat/race.
Having completed the on track segment, crossed the scales, and fulfilled any post race technical inspection you will immediately proceed to the disassembly area. In the disassembly area you will remove tires and fuel tank and return them to the Return Table. DO not just drop your equipment and walk away, stay with your tires and fuel until the attendant picks them up to place them in the storage area. You should also check your tires and fuel tank to make sure that all are still properly marked before handing them over to the attendant. If a mark or marks are missing the attendant will remark or label equipment under your supervision. With all competition tires and fuel properly stored with Parc Ferme attendants, you may now return to your paddock and get ready for the next segment. This procedure will repeat itself for each race session.
3.3 Practice sessions and morning warm ups on race days are not under Parc Ferme requirements and therefore no fuel or tires will be issued for use during these sessions.
4. Non Qualifying Practice
At Scrutineering a sticker was placed on the steering fairing of your kart. This sticker indicates your class and practice group. Practice times for your group are listed on the official schedule for the day.
You may only practice with your designated group. If for any reason you feel a change to another group is needed this request must be made to the Grid Marshall, the Grid Marshall is the only person that may grant a change to your practice group.
While on the track, all flags will be obeyed, the same as under race conditions. No driver may cut the track or drive in the reverse direction of normal traffic flow unless directed by a track official. Failure to comply will mean forfeiture of this practice session and possible forfeiture of additional practice sessions as dictated by Event Officials.
Hot pitting will only be allowed during practice sessions specifically designated as hot pit practice sessions. If the driver exits the track for any reason his practice session is considered to be finished. A driver may pull into a safe area to inspect his kart but no mechanic is allowed. If a mechanic touches the kart for any reason the driver’s session is done. No hot pitting for Micro Max class will be allowed.
The last practice session will be considered a Hot Pit session and a Hot Pit area will be designated. All hot pit practice sessions are under the same controls as official qualifying sessions. Make sure the driver and mechanic have all parts and tools needed before entering the Hot Pit area. Once the mechanic has entered this area he may not leave until he considers his driver finished. The mechanic may not leave and re-enter the Hot Pit area nor may tools or parts be entered by other persons. A driver may pull in and with the help of his mechanic make changes to his kart or engine. All parts taken into the hot pit area, removed from the engine or kart are subject to inspection and/or impound at any time.
Once qualifying has started no additional practice sessions will be offered. There may be a morning warm up prior to each day’s official sessions. These are conducted under practice rules. Official tires and fuel from Parc Ferme may not be used for these sessions. If you do not have other tires and rims you will not be allowed to participate. If you do not have an extra fuel tank check with Parc Ferme Director for the procedure you will need to follow allowing you to use your fuel tank for morning warm-ups and then re-enter the fuel tank into Parc Ferme.
The last official practice session will be used to determine qualifying groups. Once this practice session has completed you should remove your practice sticker because morning warm up groups will be determined by the days scheduled events. See the daily schedule to determine your morning warm up time if it is offered.
5. Briefing
A) Definition: The Entrants’ and Drivers’ Briefing is a meeting organised by the Race Director for all Mechanics, Drivers and Entrants (Team Managers) entered in the Event. The driver of record is the registered driver for a kart and identified by the Kart # and class entered in. The driver of record is the only one allowed to pilot the kart he/she has entered during the course of all on track elements. Test drivers are not allowed.
B) Aim of the Briefing: to remind Entrants and Drivers of the specific points of the Supplementary Regulations concerning the organisation of the Event; to remind them of the safety notions, either general, or specific to the circuit used; to give any clarification concerning the interpretation of the Regulations.
C) The time of the Briefing is mentioned in the program of the Event. The time is considered as that of the beginning of the Briefing and the entrance door and access to the Briefing will be closed. The meeting shall always be held before Qualifying Practice or the first Qualifying Heat.
Extra meetings may be organised if this is deemed necessary.
D) The presence of all concerned Mechanics and Drivers is mandatory throughout the Briefing under pain of a sanction, fine or even of a possible exclusion from the Event. Two Attendance Sheets shall be signed, one by Drivers and the other by Mechanics.
E) If required persons do not attend the mandatory briefings a fine of US $50.00 may be assessed at the discretion of event officials, or other type of penalty. If a fine is assessed it must be paid to the Event Organizer (USRMC) or hosting organization before competitor can continue with event elements.
5.1 For all classes
The practice of drivers ducking their heads to reduce wind resistance will require the drivers to do so in such a way as their eyes do not lose sight of the racing surface. Drivers lowering their head will be required to keep their face shield, and eyes, facing forward.
5.2 Micro Max and Mini Max
The practice of jumping up and down in the seat is no longer allowed. Drivers in these classes will no longer be allowed to move up and down in the seat during competition.
5.3 Micro Max
Hot pit for Micro Max will not be allowed for non qualifying practice or qualifying.
We request the cooperation of all parents and team managers to insure this message and action on the track is passed on to your drivers as it is for his or her safety and the safety of track personnel that we are concerned for.
5.4 Rain Tire Declaration In most cases the tire declaration will be Slicks or drivers choice. If the possibility of rain exists drivers will be allowed to take both slicks and rain tires to the assembly area and then to the grid. If while on the grid a sudden change of weather occurs race director may allow an additional 10 minutes for drivers and mechanics to change from slicks to rain tires. It this situation does occur only tire changes will be allowed. Other chassis adjustments are not permitted. If a driver and or mechanic does make other changes a penalty equal to ½ of lap time of # 3 finishing driver in the heat/race. The only additional change permitted is the moving of the rear hubs to meet the rule prohibiting the body work from extending past the rear wheels.
Note: When leaving assembly area tires and wheels must be mounted on kart, leaving the assembly area with the intent of making a last minute decision of which tires to mount will not be permitted.
5.5 Red Flags and Restarts
When Red Flags are displayed by Corner Marshals and Race Officials all competitors should slow down and raise their hand high indicating they have seen the Red Flag signals. Competitors should proceed to a point on the track indicated during the Driver’s Briefing and wait for instructions from Race Officials.
If a heat/race is red flagged due to apparent driver injury, the driver requiring medical attention will not be allowed to re-start. Race officials may mandate a driver be evaluated by medical personnel. This will apply to “complete and single file restarts”
If a race is red flagged because of unsafe track conditions all drivers directly involved in the incident requiring the red flag will start at the back of the grid on the restart (single file restart only). Only drivers that were listed as crossing the start finish line on the lap preceding the red flag will be allowed to restart. Drivers retiring prior to the lap on which the red flag occurred will not be allowed to reenter the race.
If a repair period is designated all eligible competitors will move to a controlled area designated by the Head of Tech for the event. The repair period will be 30 minutes and the Parc Ferme Director and Tech Director and/or Parc Ferme Director will oversee the area. Mechanics will be allowed to bring in tools and parts as outlined by the Tech Director and/or Parc Ferme Director during this period.
The restart line up will be determined by scoring officials as the last completed lap. If less than 2 laps have been completed the race will have been considered, never started. A complete new start will be given using the original starting lineup. A race will be considered complete if 75% of the scheduled laps have been completed.
The definition of a completed lap is when all karts have crossed the start finish line with the exception of karts no longer running or karts delayed to the start finish line due to on track incidents. The determination of 2 laps being completed will be accomplished by race officials.
Make 5.6 Protests:
Protest forms will be available at a designated location during the event. This location will be identified at the drivers meeting.
All protest forms will be submitted to a designated person. All protests will be accompanied by a $50.00 Protest Fee, cash or check only. If the protest is upheld the $50.00 will be returned. If the protest is denied the $50.00 protest fee will be not be returned. Decisions on protests will be made within 30 minutes of presentation to the designated official. All parties involved in the protest will be called to the designated official and at the conclusion of the current race on the track will be informed of the decision.
6. Qualifying-Last Chance Race (LCR)
Following the last official practice qualifying groups will be set. Classes will be divided into equal sizes and the slowest qualifying group will go on track first during each classes qualifying period.
Following qualifying drivers will be listed per qualifying times with the fastest at the top. Starting grids for heat races will be determined based on class size;
For classes with 36 or less the starting grid will be set for each of the 3 heats based on qualifying times. The Starting grid for each of the 3 heats will be the same.
For classes with 37-72 entries, 4 grids will be set with a maximum of 18 in each grid. From the qualifying order the grids will be set using the qualifying positions as outlined below;

For classes with more than 72 entries a procedure outlined by CIK will be set.
*At the Race Director’s discretion group sizes larger than 36 may be set.
6.1 National Events Procedure for all classes
Procedure for establishing groups for practice, qualifying, heats, and Last Chance Races
6.2 Establishing groups for practice
If the entries in a class are 31 or larger the class will be split into 2 practice groups. If the entries in a class are 61 or larger the class will be split into 3 practice groups.
6.2 Establishing groups for qualifying and heats
If the entries in a class are 37 or larger 4 groups will be established following qualifying. The groups will be set using standard procedures using qualifying results listed above.
6.3 Determining requirement for Last Chance Race
If the number of entries in a class is 39 or greater a Last Chance Race will be required for a class. If a Last Chance Race is required for a class the 28 racers with the lowest points total will automatically transfer to the Pre-Final. Those racers from positions 29 and down will compete in the Last Chance Race with the top 6 finishers transferring to the Pre-Final.
If a class has 38 entries or less all members of the class will automatically transfer to the Pre-Final.
Last Chance Race distances by class are;
Micro Max 11km
Mini Max 15km
Junior and Senior Classes 20km
7. Starting Procedure
This is a complete CIK procedure that places the responsibility for controlling the start on the racers and eliminates the need for aborted starts.
7.1 Starting Lanes – Acceleration/Start/Formation Lines
The track will be marked with 2 sets of 42” cones. The first set will be the acceleration cones and the second set, placed 25 meters after the acceleration cones, will be considered the start cones. The track will be divided into 2 starting lanes materialized by 5 cones placed in the center of the track from the acceleration cones to the start cones. The formation will do one hot lap and then begin the formation lap. Once the leaders pass turn 1 at the beginning of the formation lap they will slow down and allow the formation to line up behind the leaders. At a point approximately 75% of the formation lap an additional set of 42” cones will mark the end of formation line. At this point drivers who are not in their starting position can no longer advance in the formation. If they are not in line at this point they must move into line. If they are unable to get into line they must fall into the back of the starting formation.
*Note: Micro Max will leave the grid and once past turn 2 will begin to form up. Micro Max will not do a hot lap, just a formation lap.
7.2 Starting Speeds
The pole sitter will bring the formation to the acceleration cones at a speed between 18mph and 30mph (30kmh and 50kmh) using rpm values they have determined from their data acquisition systems. A speed measuring tool may be utilized. If a speed measuring system is in use the Race Director, or an appointed person will have the radar gun placed on the pole kart. If at the acceleration cones the pole kart is above or below this speed he will be assessed a penalty on the finish of the element. A second person will be stationed at the acceleration line. If the off pole, #2 kart crosses the acceleration line before the pole kart a penalty will be assessed. If it is determined that the pole sitter is forced to exceed the speed by karts in the rows behind him or the #2 kart is forced to cross the acceleration line before the pole sitter by karts behind him penalties will be assessed to each offending driver in the rows behind the #1 and #2 drivers.
Penalties:
Pole sitter above designated speeds;
- Penalty is minimum 5 seconds for over speed up to 35 mph
- 10 seconds for speed 35 mph or above (measured at the acceleration line)
- Penalty is assessed at the conclusion of the element.
Front Row #2 driver
- Crossing acceleration line ahead of #1 (pole driver) less than 1 full kart length;
3 seconds - Crossing acceleration line ahead of #1 (pole driver) more than 1 full kart length;
5 seconds
Rows behind the pole sitter and/or #2 forcing the pole or #2 to violate their responsibilities the penalty is 10 Seconds, to each offending driver, assessed at the conclusion of the element. For Micro Max and Mini Max the penalties are 5 seconds for the above listed offenses.
The goal of this procedure is to eliminate wave offs for starts that are too fast or accelerating before the designated line. Starts maybe waved off for other reasons officials deem necessary.
Pole sitter will accelerate at the acceleration line #2 will accelerate following pole sitter, all other drivers will accelerate when the driver in front of them does. Head Starter will display the green start flag at some point after the pole sitter has passed the acceleration line.
No driver may come out of their line until they have passed the start cones. Penalty for coming out of line before passing the start cones is 3 seconds. Penalty for changing lanes before the start cones have been passed is 15 seconds.
RPM Guidelines for start speeds by class will be posted prior to the drivers meeting, a general rule if no guidelines are posted by class are:
Micro Max Gear 14x73 5300 rpm
Mini Max Gear 13x82 6200 rpm
Junior-Senior-Masters Gear 12x77 6000 rpm
DD2 In 1st gear Gear 35x62 8400 rpm
7.3 Single File Restarts
Following the stopping of an element and at minimum 2 laps have been completed, the formation will be placed in a single file based on the last passing of the finish line as recorded by the scoring equipment. The formation will leave and a start will be given at the acceleration cone. The same speed control system may be used with the responsibility on the leader to control the speed of the formation. The Head Starter will present the green flag to the formation at which time no restrictions will exist on the movement of drivers in the restart formation.
7.4 Driving infractions
A rolled black flag with an accompanying driver’s number on a display board will be a warning for a driving infraction. Penalties for driving infractions may be assessed with or without warning. Penalties will be assessed as a time penalty or a position penalty and applied at the end of the race. There is no maximum as to the amount of time a competitor may be assessed for a penalty.
A waved Black Flag indicates the driver needs to exit the track, in a safe manner, the next time the driver comes to the track exit. The kart number will also be displayed at the start/finish line on a display board. Failure to exit the track, in a safe manner, may result in additional penalties.
- Heats
Each class will compete in 3 heats based on the qualifying positions. Heats will be 8-12 laps determined by Race Officials, based on the length of the track. Starting grids and points assignments for finishing positions will be assigned as outlined below. (Three heats will be for classes with 80 competitors or less. For classes with 81 or more competitors the number of heats will change based on the heat system used per CIK rules.
Each competitor will be given points based on their finishing position in each of the heats. Points are assigned as follows;
1st 0 6th 6 11th 11 16th 16
2nd 2 7th 7 12th 12 17th 17
3rd 3 8th 8 13th 13 18th 18
4th 4 9th 9 14th 14
5th` 5 10th 10 15th 15
The points are totaled for each competitor; the lowest 28 in points will transfer directly to the Pre-Final. Those finishing in point total positions 29-64 will compete in a 20km Last Chance Race with the top 6 finishers transferring to the Pre-Final in positions 29-34 based on their finishing positions in the LCR. Those finishing with points totals from 65th and lower will have completed their competition.
In the event of ties for points qualifying times will be the tie breaker. In the case where fastest qualifying times are equal next best qualifying time will be tie breaker.
9. Pre-Final
Pre-Finals will be 20km in length as specified in the CIK Specific Prescriptions. This will apply to all classes except Micro Max 11km and Mini Max 15km. The starting line up for the Pre-Final will be as outlined in the section on Heats above. The finishing order of the Pr-Final will determine the starting order of the Final.
10. Final
The starting order of the Final will be set as the finishing order of the Pre-Final. The length will be 30km for all classes except Micro Max 15km and Mini Max 20km. The winner of the Final will be awarded the title of United States Rotax Max Champion for the specific class for the year.
All finishes of each qualifying, heat, LCR, Pre-Final and Final are unofficial until post race technical inspections are completed and a 30 minute protest period has passed.
